Camping.

The Boy and I dated for around six years before we got married and we've been married almost eleven months. We have slept under the stars together in the back of a big hay truck and on the ground in an orchard, but we've never actually camped in an intentional-put-up-a-tent kind of way. The reason for this is mainly because the Mister prefers hotel rooms, particularly oceanfront ones, where there is a shower that doesn't require paying a quarter and the bed isn't on the ground.

However, Hubs also loves me very much and so he agreed to camp this past weekend when we went to Rhode Island. My Mom thought of camping because the hotels closer to the beach were, of course, kind of pricey and although she used to stay at this particular campground as a kid, she had never had the opportunity before to camp there with my sister and I.

We got to the site in the late afternoon on Friday and started setting up. He'd hate for me to say this, but I'm going to anyways...
Hubs had some trouble setting up the tent because he wouldn't read the directions or let me help.
Eventually he relented though, after flashing an offensive hand gesture (sorry about that), and it went up nice and quick. After the tent was set, I blew up the air mattress- with an air pump because I don't have quite that much hot air (though some maybe beg to differ)- and then we unloaded the car and ran to the store to grab some drinks and snacks.
This is the view from the front of the tent. The water is Watchaug Pond, which I shared a few pictures of on Tuesday.
Here's the whole site after Mom and Dad arrived and got set up, which included a much quicker tent raising than the first one. ;)
It was an awesome weekend and even though there were a few tiffs, it was great to share an experience we hadn't had together yet. I'm looking forward to future camping adventures, which should be easier now that we have a weekend of doing it together under our belts.

Blessings and Happy Thursday!
