What a fantastic weekend my little family had! I could tell Casey was sad for it to end this morning when he dragged his feet out the door to go to work. He got to spend quite a bit of time with us and it was so great!
On Saturday he and I went on my birthday date. We had a yummy dinner at Red Robin, went to Walmart to get candy for the movie, which I totally recommend because it’s the same boxes of candy, but for only like 98 cents, and then we saw Friends With Kids. The movie was okay, but much more serious and much less comedy than I expected.
After the movie we went to our friends condo because they had made me a cake, which was so nice! Then we came home and I stayed up way too late, especially with the time change, reading The Hunger Games. I was underwhelmed at first, maybe put off by children having to fight to the death, but now I’m totally caught up in it. I stayed up too late again last night finishing the first book and couldn’t wait to start the second this afternoon while Abel napped.
Sunday afternoon was probably my favorite part of the weekend. We went for a walk over to the park. The sun was shining and though it was a little windy, it was so nice. Abel napped a bit on the way over and was a little drowsy for his first park experience, but I think he liked the sunshine and the activity of the other kids playing. I know I loved having a little family outing!
When we got home, I put a pot roast in the oven and then cuddled in bed with Abel for a little nap and some reading. In the evening, our friends from the building came up for dinner, bringing roasted chicken and veggies to add to the pot roast and rolls I made. It was a tasty meal and a great way to end a wonderful weekend!
