It’s beginning to look a bit like Christmas around here, a simple Christmas. I got all my decorations out and decided it was too much, so I put out some favorite things and boxed up the rest.
Two of my favorite things are twinkle and flicker. The twinkle of Christmas lights and the flicker of candles in clear glass vessels. It’s such a cozy, comforting ambience.
This weekend we’re adding to the twinkle with a Christmas tree. We haven’t had one for a couple years because we go north for Christmas (I know, that’s a pretty dumb reason), but I couldn’t stand the idea of telling Abel when he’s older we didn’t have a tree for his first Christmastime.
So tomorrow we’ll go and pick out a tree and decorate it and take little buddy’s picture in front of it. He might be too little to understand, but I hope he’ll at least enjoy the twinkle.
