Home for the Holidays...

Hubs and I had planned to head north on Saturday, but thank God we changed our plans and left after work on Friday. NoVa got hit with record breaking snow on Friday night and into Saturday, which shut things down for days.

We made it to Vermont in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday after driving all night. We slept most of the day and then got up just to get going again. We had dinner out with Hubby's dad and then went to his cousin's basketball game. Then we headed to Burlington to spend the night with friends.

On Sunday we went down to White River Jct to have Christmas lunch with my grandparents and some family. After lunch I headed to my parents' house with them and hung around the rest of the evening.

I thought I'd share some of my Mom's decor as it's the stuff we'll be enjoying during this Christmas week. She said she didn't do as much as she often does, but I think all the little touches around the house are great.

Above the kitchen sink is the sweet snowgirl she got when she visited me a few weeks ago.
The nativity in the living room... the wise men were in the window across the room, an angel was in another window, and a shepherd and sheep in yet another... Baby Jesus is, of course, waiting in the wings to make his big appearance in just a few days!
The dining room all dressed with snowflakes on the chandelier and garland on the windows...The centerpiece is simple with pine cones and bulb ornaments, but I love it.
Flowers and candles in the upstairs bathroom, which Hubs and I use while we're here...
Finally, the joy of a sweet little tree in my room!
It was lit and twinkling when I brought my stuff up last night and it really made me smile...
The ornaments are all birds, including this pair of lovey owls.
Thanks Mum for adding bits of the Christmas spirit throughout your house. It's part of what makes it so beautiful to be home for the holidays!

Thanks, Christie, for sharing these sweet things.
You two were smart to head out on Fri. I took the hint, and ran around Fri. afternoon like a crazy person finishing all my last minute shopping. Boy, am I glad I did! Now I can just stay home and wrap it all.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, with lots of good memories to come.

What a treat to see my house on your blog. (did I sign a release? just wondering..) The sweetest decoration so far has been perched on the sofa the last couple of nights--that would be you. I'm glad you are here to share this special time with Dad and me. Love, MUM
