A Joyful Greeting

Today I'm participating in the Christmas Card Carousel over at Walk With Me By Faith. One of the blogs I read regularly (Tales of the Trees) linked up to Faith's site a few days ago and the link for the Carousel was posted on Wednesday, so I'm a day behind. Mostly that's because I wanted to make sure the readers I sent cards to had them before I posted. Mom told me today she got hers, so that was my go ahead.

I bought cards the first few years Hubs and I lived together, but last year and this year I made my own, and will likely do so in years to come. So far I've used the following process: I decide my theme for the cover drawing based on a word. Last year the word was "Peace" and this year the word is "Joy."
After I've chosen the word, I find a line of scripture that uses the word and that is relevant to the celebration of Christmas. This year the scripture is Matthew 2:10.
I then do the drawing for the cover based on the scripture and using the word. After the drawing is done, I scan it onto my computer and order 4x6 prints from Walmart. Once I recieve the prints, I assemble the cards with the print on the front and the scripture on the inside.

Maybe in years to come I'll do things a little differently, but this process has worked pretty well so far. It is time consuming, but so worth it. There are plenty of words and more than enough scripture to change things up year after year, so it's something special, and handcrafted, every time.Be sure to head over to Walk with Me by Faith to check out some other joyful greetings!
