Here is a quick (as possible) collage and caption look at our anniversary trip to the Bahamas.
At Reagan Airport waiting to depart on Friday…
Welcome to the Bahamas sign at the airport, view from the bus on the way to the hotel, the colorful lobby at our resort, the view from lunch on arrival, our California king bed – aka two queen beds pushed together, and the view to the right out the window of our room.
Junkanoo parade on Saturday night (I think)….
On Sunday, we visited the Daq Shack, which was recommended everywhere in our travel research. Sure we could drink all included at the resort, but these were worth every extra penny. Fresh fruit, plenty of rum, and a casual, local atmosphere. Our first tries were watermelon for me and a Miami Vice for Casey, which is half strawberry and half pina colada.
On Monday, anniversary day, we rented a scooter and drove downtown and to Paradise Island, where we visited Atlantis, of course.
In downtown, we visited Senor Frogs and walked up and down the street to find souvenirs.
After the scooter adventure, we used some Bahamian money to get more drinks at the Daq Shack before heading back to the resort to lounge at the beach.
Anniversary dinner at Martino’s…
On Tuesday, departure day, we got up and hung out at the beach until it was time to go to the airport.
Far too soon in Casey’s opinion, we were back on our way north to DC, with a pit stop at the Charlotte Airport in NC where we ate BBQ for dinner. Of course.
It was an awesomely fun trip and I’m so thankful to have a wonderful husband to share such adventures with. It’s probably the last trip we’ll take to the Caribbean for a few years, but don’t tell him that… he might cry.
