On Sunday, we went to see Brooks and Dunn. We’d seen them before several times, but this is their last tour before they retire. It was awesome, as usual.
The openers were Thompson Square and Gary Allan. Thompson Square are pretty new so we weren’t that familiar with them, but Gary Allan was great!
After Gary Allan was finished, there was the typical stage preparation, and then it was time for the big show! I loved their vintage lady bull rider stage banners.
They played a few together, then Kix sat out on stage and sang some of his favorites, followed by Ronnie joining him for some of his favorites, and then they took some requests from people sitting close to the stage. After that, they resumed with some of their hits and some of our favorites, like “Cowgirls Don’t Cry”…
“Believe”…
And “Only in America,” which they play and have soldiers from all the branches come out for an audience salute, which chokes me up every time.
They played old songs and new, all of which I knew, which always makes a concert so much better. I kept saying, “I love this song,” and Casey told me, “You said that about the song before this too.” But I couldn’t help it, I love their music!
The finale was bittersweet, including “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” but it concluded an awesome show and we really hope they do a reunion show… like next year!
