On Saturday, late morning, I headed up to Philly to see my mom and sister. My sister was coming home from CO for a visit and started in Philly because she still had some belongings at her old place, where her friends still live, and so Mom drove down to meet her and bring her and her stuff back to Vermont. I went up to help pack the car, which was way easier than expected, and hang out for the afternoon and evening.
After the car was packed, which ended up taking less than ten minutes, we walked to Franklin Fountain for some ice cream. The line was out the door, but moved quickly. I got maple walnut and Mom got lemon ice, both in waffle cones, and Karen got a root beer float.
While we enjoyed our treats, we walked to Independence Hall to sit in the park and people watch. We chatted, told stories, and of course shared plenty of laughs.
After sitting around for quite some time, we headed to dinner. We decided to eat at The Continental, where the menu is served tapas style. Our choices for dinner were: edamame, bbq chicken quesadillas, lobster mac & cheese, wasabi mashed potatoes, and rad na thai chicken. It may seem like a strange grouping of food, but all was delicious… well, except the rad na thai chicken, but only to me because I’m not fond of soy sauce flavoring.
We all got a beverage as well, which is for some reason the only edible thing I took a picture of. Mom had a Key Lime Rickey, I had a Creamsiquila, and Karen had a Pomargarita.
For dessert, we had the Mascarpone Cheesecake with fresh blueberries and coconut rum sorbet, which was so amazing, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, which was so rich!
After dinner, Mom and I dropped Karen off at her old place to celebrate her friend’s birthday and we went to the hotel. After chatting for a little bit, we settled into bed.
On Sunday morning, we got up and had breakfast at the hotel before parting ways- Mum to get Karen and head to Vermont and me back south to Virginia. Oh how I missed them both as soon as I left their sight! It was a great overnight visit, though, and I was so glad to see them both and I already look forward to the (undetermined) next time we’ll be be together for a visit.
