So last week I was kind of a slug. Meaning I didn't get much accomplished, but instead came home from work, made some dinner, and sat on the couch to watch bad TV. Sometimes this happens. You just need to be a slug. I mean, I wasn't totally awful- I cleaned up after making dinner. But overall, I didn't do anything. And even though sometimes it happens and is "needed" it, it still makes me feel like crap. I sit on the couch and say to myself, "stop being a loser and go do something besides watch TV." Especially because I don't really even like TV! But I remain there and two times I was eating this comfort food (which my sister ate the night we got to Philly, so it must be hereditary):
Elbow macaroni. Butter. Garlic salt. Pepper. Yum.
So I ate pasta and sat on the couch. Fortunately, I don't think my butt grew too much, but the mess in my condo did. Below are photos of the state of it as of this morning:
Master bedroom. Of course the bed is made- no matter what, the bed is almost always made... which means I'm not a total loss, right?
Other side of the master bedroom. Piles- a technique I've used since I was little.

The kitchen. I ran errands on Sunday, so I promise those bags have only been there since last night. The counter clutter, however, is a regular issue.

Dining room. Not TOO bad, huh? Yeah right- the pile on the table is unfinished wedding thank you cards. Talk about something I need to get done.

Living room. Also not too bad. The ugly plastic shelves were taken from the guest closet, which you will see momentarily.

And ah, the piece-de-resistance. The guest bedroom, in all it's disasterous beauty... or something like that.
But look! Part of the reason the guest room is so disasterous is because the guest closet is mostly empty! I am putting in two more shelves... but of course Hubby didn't like the way I was doing it, so now I have to go back to Home Depot before I can finish this. And oh man, I can't wait to finish it because I'm going to get a lot of the clutter out of the guest room and into the guest closet... but in the transfer, it won't be clutter any more, it will be needed and organized.
Okay, now that I've shared the mess, it's time to get down to the business of making it go away. Henceforth (say what?) I will be sharing my quest to nest (isn't that special?). One of of my helpers will be flylady.net, which I will share more about in the upcoming week. Other than that, it's all me. I am determined to get this place under control and the sooner I do it, the less stressful and more wonderful my life will be. And we all know wonderful is better than stressful.
