Ohhhh Mondays.

I am absolutely exhausted today. Probably because I got the creative thinking bug last night before I went to sleep. Meaning I went to bed and couldn't get to sleep because lots of creative thoughts were rushing around the forefront of my crazy brain. And the part that made it worse was that it was already late when I went to bed (had to stay up to watch Dexter!) and so I was up way later than this old granny should be on a work night. Not only am I a granny who likes to go to bed fairly early, I do so because I need at least (yes, AT LEAST) eight hours of sleep in order to function all day the next day. Hence the reason why right now, at 6:30pm, I just want to curl up in bed and go to sleep. I really do love my sleep.

Anywho, this weekend flew by (surprised? I'm not.) and I honestly didn't do much at all... not even on Saturday. Sunday was finally a day of rest... except the day started on Friday night and didn't end until this morning. Aw well, at least I did one thing I've been wanting to do: make homemade bread! I got the recipe from Walking in Memphis and it turned out pretty well. I made the more-wheat version and it is absolutely delicious with butter and cinnamon/sugar. I'm hoping to try it for a sandwich tomorrow for lunch... maybe with cukes and cream cheese. Ah how I love a cucumber and cream cheese sandwich. Adding other veggies is good too- like a crisp leaf of romaine and some crunchy slices of carrot. I was turned onto this after eating lunch at The Garden Kitchen in Occoquan with Mum. They serve a veggie sandwich on French bread with cream cheese, rather than cheddar or swiss or whatever. It was DELICIOUS. I try to reenact at home, but of course it's not the same. Thank goodness I know I'll have the chance to return and eat it again!

So remember the tapes and CD I mentioned on Friday that I was going to continue to transcribe today? Well, here is the beauty that is involved in transcription. My old-school dictation/tape player thing thing, headphones, and the to-be-done pile. I got all but one tape and the CD done today. Obviously the CD can't be done in a tape player, but I have a disc-drive dictation module as well. Have you ever tried transcribing something? I don't know that I'd call it exciting or fun- I mean, hours upon hours of having headphones on kind of makes your head want to be set free- but at least it's something to keep me busy and it's also kind of cool to take part in the case investigation, even if it is just a secretarial part.

Because it has been weighing on me, I wanted to take this day and this post to say how much I dislike traffic. How much? A LOT. Lately I just feel it dragging my spirit from my body during my commute. I could wake up joyful, but by the time I get to work, traffic and stop lights and all those people pulling in front of me and slamming on their brakes has just zoned me out to bummer land. If there were breaks from it, I wouldn't take the time to complain, but it never ends. Morning, noon, and night, there are so many people on the road. It's just frustrating and honestly, I would take Vermont "Sunday drivers" over VA traffic any day... but only because on country roads I can pass them and here I just have to stay in my lane and suck it up. Uggghhh...

In the cleaning realm, the FlyZone for this week is the kitchen. I'm kind of excited to be focusing on the kitchen because it's a place I want to start spending more time. I'm not really sure what I can liquidate from this room, but I'll certainly be looking and working at it this week. "Kelly's Mission" for today was to take out the garbage and clean out (with soap and water) your garbage cans. Lucky for me, I don't have to do it because I did it on Saturday. Huh, guess I did get something done this weekend!

That's all for Monday. Maybe I'll go take a nap. I probably should seeing as I have to pick up Hubby from class at around 10pm, which means another late night getting to sleep. I can't wait until his foot is better- both for the sake of his health and the sake of my sanity... not to mention my car mileage!
