This past week has not been the best week. It also hasn’t been the worst. I just wasn’t on my game; I was a little off track from where I like to be. I think traveling and going off my routine does that to me.
Fortunately, I’m learning to just keep pushing through, occasionally taking a moment to take a deep breath before moving forward.
So, when I woke up this morning and went to get milk for my cereal and found that the fridge had been left open all night, I took it in stride.
At first I was like, “What the heck? Another something to deal with!?” I was also quite surprised at how hot those lights in there get when left on so long. I mean, towards the top, the fridge was not just warm, it was hot!
But then as I surveyed the fridge contents to estimate the damage, I found that not much was ruined… at least not that I could tell right away; it might be a different story when we go to use some of it.
The only things I decided to throw away right away were the butter, cheese, and pepperoni that were in the top of the door, and a pre-made salad on the top shelf, which already had cheese on it, which was of course melted all over, which did not do nice things to the smell of the romaine.
With the damage total taken, I began to pull things out of the shelf below the butter, thinking all I had to do was wipe off the bottles. Well, the first thing I pulled didn’t come out too easily. If you view the picture below, you can see why.
It was quite a bit of butter that melted into the tray below, like five sticks I think. So not only were there the drizzles of butter down the sides of some of the bottles, it had also pooled on the bottom.
At this point, I started to find it kind of humorous. Seriously, how ridiculous is this?
Now that it’s all cleaned up, I’m ready to go on with my day, leaving this little road bump far behind me, hopefully keeping this moving forward attitude through the other things that will no doubt come up later on today, tomorrow, this week, and so forth.
After all, no use crying over… melted butter.
