Well, he answered the questionnaire! I only had to edit one of his responses to make it appropriate for sharing and I kept the gist of it. Some of the answers might seem entirely too simple or maybe even ridiculous, but I know his values and how he feels behind the simple answers, so it made me smile.

What couple from a movie or TV show are you most like?

Me: Ray and Debra from “Everybody Loves Raymond.” I can be bitchy and he so often can’t understand what he’s done wrong, LOL.

Him: WHAT?????? How am I supposed to know?

Do you have a song? What is it?

Me: He’ll say Tim McGraw’s “It’s Your Love.” I agree, but there are others that are special to me in regards to him as well, like “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Lauryn Hill and “Big Poppa” by Notorious BIG… hey, the quiz didn’t say they have to be romantic or make sense to anyone but me!

Me: Ali. You know a relationship is going to last if you can sit through an almost three hours long movie on your first date!

Me: I’m ashamed, but I can’t remember.

Me: We don’t eat out much as a couple, but I almost always say I want to go to Chipotle.

Me: I think I am. I keep track of the finances, so maybe that just makes me less likely to spend on unnecessary items… or maybe he just thinks more stuff is necessary than I do!

Him: I “handle” it better (aka it goes through my hands and then is spent) – You are better at leaving it in the bank, NOT handling it :)

What was the first meal that your wife cooked for you?

Me: As a wife or the first meal I ever cooked for him? Either way, it was probably pasta of some kind!

Him: Ummm, probably angel hair pasta with butter and garlic.

If your spouse was a cartoon character which one would he/she be?

Me: He does a mean Donald Duck impression…

Him: Tasmanian Devil, haha, idk???

How many boyfriends/girlfriends did your spouse have before you?

Me: One or two, I guess.

Him: Ummm, idk, like a few, maybe 4 or 5????

What is your idea of a perfect date?

Me: Any date is perfect. We don’t go on many, so they’re amazing when we do get out. Good food and lots of catching up are all I really need… and those things can be had at home!

Him: Sitting at home, nice steak dinner, cuddle up and watch a movie, then gettin’ some. (At least he’s honest…)

What physical feature first attracted you to your spouse?

Me: I thought he was hot, especially in a basketball uniform.

Him: Booty :)

Where was your first date?

Me: The movie theater in Montpelier, VT. It was kind of a group date and wasn’t really meant to be a date-date, but it turned out that way… thank goodness!

Him: Kinda sorta to Montpelier movie theater to watch Ali.

Me: He watches so much TV, I’m not sure I can choose one, but if I have to, I’ll say “Sons of Anarchy.”

Me: I think it’s a tie between Dexter, House, and Sons of Anarchy.

Me: January 5^th.

Me: If money was no object, we’d go to Bora Bora and stay in one of those huts out over the water.

Me: That I could love him more than I did before marriage.

Him: Nothing, I already knew she was a good cook, kept the house clean, spoiled me, that’s why I married her :)

Me: He insists upon taking care of me, in his own way of course, and he loves me unconditionally, no matter how cranky I get!

Yep, that's right, I had today off too, making it the third day off this week. I suppose it's back to work tomorrow, but I think I can probably handle that... and I'm almost looking forward to it.

Today I made blueberry muffins for breakfast, did some regularly scheduled cleaning, worked on journal cards, went grocery shopping, and made some heart shaped frosted sugar cookies in honor of Valentine's Day for work tomorrow. Even if we have Admin Leave, which I doubt, I'm going in anyways to bring the cookies. Because if I don't, I'll eat them all myself and that's no good. I've been eating far too many cookies lately.At the grocery store, for the first time in my lifetime of grocery shopping, the milk cooler was empty. I'm not sure when that will happen again in my life as these kinds of storms don't happen very often, so here's some evidence that it really happened...When I came back from the store they were trucking snow out of the parking lot of the townhouses next door. Good riddance, I say! It was cool the first night and even the next day, but now it's time for it to go away and/or melt into the ground.

So, we'll see what tomorrow brings, but I was glad to have these days off to finish some projects. I hope, for the area's sake though, that things can get cleared up and functional over the weekend... though the snow they're forecasting for Monday might have other ideas!

Snow Day #2...

I was on Administrative Leave again today. The storm that started last night and went through early this afternoon didn't seem to drop much snow, but the wind is definitely blizzard wind. Even though the snow stopped hours ago, the wind has been cranking at our windows all afternoon and still is tonight. I can hear it out there, blowing the trees and snow around.

I don't feel like I was very productive today, but that could be because I feel like crap from a short nap I just took. I laid down on the couch to read and ended up dozing off. It was one of those naps that you regret because you're all hot and almost sore afterward. Oh well, a nap is a nap and your body knows better if you need one or not. The cats seem to know that this is true today... and everyday, really.I did get a few projects checked off the list, such as scanning some photos for a friend and seriously going through paper (again) and tossing a bunch to be shredded. Just check it out, an entire milk crate ready to be out of my closet and into recycleland.I guess I'll be glad to be back to work tomorrow. I really need to go to the post office and there isn't one nearby the condo, so driving into work and going from there is my best option. I need to get my Craft Hope scarf out so this snow is going to have to just lay off!

History is made...

Because the weathermen were right! The snowstorm, or snowmaggedon/ snowpacolypse as some are calling it, hit our area and hit hard. In our neighborhood, the final tally was about 33-34". I'm from New England, and that's a big storm even for up there!

I'm on Administrative Leave today, which means I'm getting paid to sit (well, it's unlikely I'll be sitting all day) at home. Not a bad deal, though I wish they had saved it for later this week... because we're supposed to get more snow.The weekend was as I had hoped, filled with reading, a little crafting, and hanging out with the Hubster. The DVR is mostly cleared and discs 1 & 2 of Season One of "Sons of Anarchy" are ready to be sent back to Netflix for replacements.I also got the cooking I mentioned done, and then some. I made Pioneer Woman's Cajun Chicken Pasta for dinner on Friday. It had good flavor, but the sauce didn't thicken as much as it was probably supposed to and it could have used a little more spice. Definitely things I can hope to fix when I make it again.I made the taco soup on Sunday instead of Saturday and found that it may be called soup, but it's really a form of chili. Either way, it was pretty tasty... though I picked around the beans, because I just can't get a handle on the texture no matter how many times I try.

In addition to my planned cooking, I also added some baking. Last night I made Pioneer Woman's Oatmeal Crispies from her cookbook and they are delicious! I added raisins to make them a form of oatmeal raisin cookies, which one of the Captains said was his favorite last week and so I'll bring some in tomorrow to work.

It was a grand weekend and I'm looking forward to the additional day today. I've been reading and browsing the web this morning, but I'm hoping to get some cleaning done and also finish some crafting projects this afternoon... plus some more reading and tea drinking and maybe a movie.

Snow days.

They weathermen are declaring 18-30". Until that actually happens, these declarations mean nothing but panic by residents in our area. Seriously, it's quite ridiculous. Schools are closed before the snow even begins to fall. What if the weathermen were wrong? I mean, normally that's not beyond comprehension.

Hmm, maybe my cynicism comes from growing up in Vermont, where several feet of snow didn't shut things down for days, nevermind shutting things down in advance.

Aw well, here's the progression, starting with a bit before 9am when I left for a doctor's appointment, where the lobby was full because they canceled their afternoon appointments and thus filled up their morning appointments.

1pm...

3pm...

It doesn't look much different after 1pm, but it's been snowing steady, so it is accumulating. And even though I find the reaction to predicted snow quite ridiculous here in the NoVa area, I'm glad for the excuse to cuddle up in the condo for the weekend with my Hubs, who because of snow probably wont have to work tomorrow like he normally would on a tax-season Saturday.

So, on the agenda are: clearing off the DVR list and watching the first two discs of Season 1 of Sons of Anarchy from Netflix, because TV is what Hubby does when he's not working; reading a lot; making Pioneer Woman's Cajun Chicken Pasta for dinner tonight; taco soup in the crockpot tomorrow; and some other crafty projects to include the tag for my Craft Hope scarf and starting some handmade Valentines.
