Weekend in Review.

This weekend wasn't particularly eventful, but it was still quite fabulous. The weather was beautiful, with temperatures up in the mid sixties.

I slept in on Saturday, watched a movie (The Women, which I recommend to any girl who enjoys a movie about women and friendship), cleaned a bit, took a walk to bring movies back after the boy got home, made some earrings to go with the shell necklace I made last week, watched the Mason basketball game (sadly, we lost by 2), and then went to bed.

On Sunday I got up and did my Bible study. Then I made my way to my aunt and uncle's to hang out with them, my cousins, and my sister.

On the drive, it was cloudy, but the sun was finding it's way through. I was thankful I actually had my camera handy.
When I arrived, the boys (aka my three younger cousins) were doing what they do every second they are allowed to: playing Wii. They stand/sit around the TV as if it has a gravitational pull and name their characters (Star Wars Lego game) things like "deth boy" and "ranger rex." Ahh, young boys.
The youngest enjoys a seat in a little rocking chair that's just his size. He absolutely loves Star Wars and I find him absolutely adorable when he sits like this.

I find him adorable most other times too, but especially when he's quiet and sweet and concentrated on something he enjoys.
My sister has a HUGE formal event on Wednesday (the reopening of Ford Theater where she is an assistant house manager!) and she bought an amazing dress and vintage earrings. We were trying to convince the boys to try the earrings on (clip ons) and only the middle man took the bait.

We told him that pirates wear just one earring and that did the trick. So below we have the cute-laughing face he made before we told him to make a pirate face.
And then we have his "arrrgggh" pirate face. Man, I love this kid.
In addition to watching the boys play Wii, wii... er, we also had "brunch" and oh how I love breakfast! The peppers and onions we put in our scrambled eggs were really pretty and fresh looking, so I took a picture. They were delish mixed with eggs on a plate with hash browns and bacon.
When I got back to the condo the moon was out, although it wasn't evening quite yet. Too bad about the power lines all in the way.
Finally, last night I made my first rum cake. It was the requested cake of a Detective whose birthday was this week. It turned out absolutely delicious, wasn't too rum-my, and I'll definitely be making it again.
I'm so excited to have two four day work weeks in a row as I'm taking Friday off to fly home for the long weekend and then have Monday off as a holiday. I'm really looking forward to the visit and some quality time with me Mum.

Happy Monday!

Please send the pirate photo of middle nephew to his meme. She would simply love it. He's something else!

Looking forward to our quality time too! Love, MUM
