Domestic therapy.

There is nothing like cleaning to relieve stress and make you feel good. Maybe it's just me... wait, I can't say that because I know that this is true for pretty much every woman in my family.

Maybe it's genetic, but if I'm feeling kind of glum, sometimes I just have to look around at my home and I can find a culprit. I swear that if my house is not clean, I get flustered on the inside and it registers as grouch on the outside.

Fortunately, I recognize grouchiness as a symptom of "dirty house syndrome" and am able to cope by pushing up my shirt sleeves and sending Oscar back to his can. Tonight I did that by thoroughly scrubbing my stove top (including the pans, or whatever they're called), wiping down the master bathroom, and cleaning my "hot spot"- the kitchen counter.

Seeing as it's Thursday, I also watched my DVR'd episode of Top Chef. Last night was the finale and Hosea won. That's better than Stefan, but I was kind of rooting for Carla. It was sad that the title was lost because she didn't cook her own way, but I love her concept of cooking with love. It kind of relates to why I like my house clean and a homemade meal for dinner. Those things are done with love and take care, and I think that's a great atmosphere to have in a home.

I don't think things have to sparkle perfectly all the time, or that each meal has to be multi-course and set out on formal dinnerware, but I think that the effort and love we put into our domesticity really rewards both us and our loved ones.

And wow. That kind of went from "cleaning is better than therapy" to a soapboxish reflection on domesticity. But hey, I'm an up and down, left to right, where's she going to go next kind of blogger, so you probably aren't all that surprised.

Blessings and Happy Thursday!

I wanted Carla to win too but I am happy Hosea won and not Stefan!
