The weekend was quite grand. I had a lovely time traveling into DC with my sister on Saturday. We got to Ford's in time for her shift and I wandered around and took pictures like a tourist before the show.
This is the outside of the theater:
This is the house where Lincoln died, which is across the street from the theater:
Below is the inside of the theater. I got a little private tour while Sister stocked programs:
Below is the infamous box where Lincoln was shot. The framed image of George Washington marks the presidential box and will not be moved, as it was the image that was there on that fateful night.
A view from my seat for the show (The Heavens Are Hung In Black) which was amazing and way more moving than I could have imagined.
After the show, and before dinner, we walked to Ollie's Trolley for creemees. For those of you who don't live in New England, a creemee is a soft serve icecream. They were delicious. Afterwards we made our way to Adams Morgan to eat dinner at The Diner with some of Sister's friends. Then I came home and watched TV with Hubby until we both fell asleep in the living room.
This is the view out of the condo this morning. Hubby went to work on time and the roads were horrendous. He convinced me to wait a few hours to go in, which I did. It was a scary ride and I gripped the steering wheel and prayed the WHOLE drive in- which was like an hour and ten minutes. I got to work safely and pray the after-work commute has the same result. I also pray the government smartens up so that next time the roads can be cleared and safer before people try getting to work.
While I waited to leave, I enjoyed watching the girls watching snowflakes. Every now and then Lucy would jump into the window for one that made it's way into the balcony area.
Just before I left, though, they had left the snowflakes to fall and Gracie was in this lovely comfy position on the back of the couch. I don't think she was planning on moving for the rest of the day.
Blessings, Happy Monday, and safe travels to anyone else being effected by this or any other storm today!
