This past weekend held an important event (aside from Mother's Day!) and that event was the first concert of the summer. Yes, I know it's not actually summer yet, but the dates are irrelevant. What I really mean is "the first concert of the warm weather season."
Every year, Hubby and I make it to at least one concert. This year we treated ourselves to Mega Tickets, which includes tickets to six country shows throughout the summer. The price is reduced per ticket because you're buying for all six shows. It's a darn good deal.
The first show of the summer on the Mega Ticket is always WMZQ-Fest. WMZQ is a local country music station and the Mega Ticket is created and distributed with their name on it.
This year WMZQ-Fest included three side-stage bands before the main show, none of which I remember the name of. We partied in the parking lot up until the first main stage act went on, so we missed the side-stage shows.
Hubs and I got into the pavilion during the Keith Anderson act, just in time to get settled in before he sang "Pickin' Wildflowers." We LOVE that song. It brings back a lot of great memories of a few summers ago when that was pretty much "The Song of the Summer" for us and our friends.
After Keith Anderson came Jason Michael Carroll- I love his new song, "Where I'm From."
After Keith Anderson came Jason Michael Carroll- I love his new song, "Where I'm From."Then came Joe Nichols- I taped a bit of "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" for my dad because that song makes him laugh.
Then it was time for Little Big Town- "Boondocks" is totally a "takes me home" kind of song.
And finally, Rodney Atkins finished off the night, including in his repertoire an awesome rendition of "Long Haired Country Boy."
I especially enjoyed finding a BRAND NEW Little Big Town t-shirt in the parking lot after the show. Brand new meaning someone bought it at the concert and must have dropped it on the way to their car. It's a major bummer that someone dropped it, but as it was highly unlikely they were coming back for it, I felt okay taking it home with me. It says "I'M WITH THE BAND" on the front and Little Big Town on the back. And it is my size. Love-ly.Hubby also found a few perfectly good lawn chairs that someone left behind and our friend found a nice football. These are good examples of why I do not get drunk. People get wasted in the parking lot and then leave their belongings for someone else to shoppy up. In a way it's sad and you don't feel right taking things home with you, but they'll just end up in the trash if you don't.
And trust me, these people weren't coming back. The section of the parking lot we were in was deserted except for us- all of the rest of the people who were parked there earlier must not have stayed through the Rodney Atkins encore!
So that was the fantastic beginning to the concert season. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the shows, not to mention more warm weather adventures with my Hubs!
Blessings and Happy Tuesday!
