On Saturday afternoon/early evening, Hubby and I went to a fair/festival called Celebrate Fairfax. It revolves around typical fair rides and attractions, but is also a way for local businesses and organizations to promote themselves through the rental of booth/tent spaces.
We didn't really go to see the local business' and organizations' "stuff," but more to enjoy the fair attractions and specifically the "Old Skool" concert scheduled for later in the evening.
We started our tour of the "attractions" with the petting zoo. They claimed to have over 40 animals, but unless there were lots of mice I wasn't aware of, that was an overstatment... not that I'm dissing them, because I thoroughly enjoyed the little furry friends that were in attendance.
Like this little goat...
And this strange looking bird. No offense, Fluffy, I think strange is good.
And this one and only camel, who tried to take my head off before allowing me to pat his neck.
At least he didn't spit on me.
Eventually we made our way to this lovely place where I got some fried dough (after washing my camel-petting hands, of course!) while listening to one of the fair "vendors" guess people's weight and age and so forth for a mere $3! If you fool him, you get a prize... a prize that's not even worth 1/4 of the $3 you just paid! Ah, gotta love those fair folk!
I used to be more of a hip hop fan, but no so much since my teenage years. My husband, on the other hand, remains quite the hip hop fan and was excited over the opportunity to see Naughty By Nature live- apparently one of their CDs was the third CD he ever owned, which subsequently got thrown away by his mother who did not approve of such music.
