Thunderboomers.

Has anyone else had the crazy rainstorms like we've been having here in NoVa? There has been lots of rain, and most of it has been accompanied by crazy lightning and rolling thunder (and no, I'm not talking about Memorial Day).

Yesterday when I left work and got in my car, it was stifling! I rolled down the windows, pulled off my shoes and nylons, and headed home. My after work commute takes me in a western direction and that's where the dark clouds were rolling in from. I got about halfway there and a cool, storm bearing wind started to blow, breaking through the icky hot air in my car. Lightning flashed in the distance.

A few miles further and it began to rain. Then just a few miles from the condo, I got quite the heart-thumping rush when the lightning seriously had to be hitting ground within a mile from the road... as in within a mile from my car and me- no lie, I wish I had a camera to capture it.

Finally I pulled in the garage and rushed upstairs, hopeful that I could capture some good lightning shots before the storm completely passed over. Unfortunately, the more crazy stuff had gone by and I mostly had just semi-dark clouds to take photos of.

I tried really hard to be patient and wait for a few bolts and I ended up with these two shots, which are kind of cool but don't come close to exemplifying the rest of the storms' lightning.Lots of people complain of the rain, as do I sometimes, but really I don't mind it- especially when it comes with exciting storms. I also love how glowing green the trees and grass get during and after lots of rain. It's such a healthy, beautiful version of the world.I also think the world in sunshine is a beautiful thing, so though I don't mind thunderboomers and refreshing rain, I do hope the sun will be out when it's the weekend and time to play!
