Vroom Vroom!

My husband is a bit of a car freak.

Okay, "a bit" is an understatement. He is pretty much obsessed. He talks about them a lot of the time, he loves his own car (though he'd like to replace it with one that has a bigger engine... of course), and events revolving around cars are his favorite kind, especially during the summer.

Even though I don't like cars nearly as much as him, I do enjoy the occasional car-related event. It's great to get out in the sunshine (and rain, as was the case most recently) and spend some time with him, even if he does spend most of that time distracted by chrome and fast 1/4 mile times.

This past Saturday we went to such an event: a whole day of drag racing held for the taping of Pinks All Out, which is a show on the Speed channel. We'd been to a taping of this show before and it was a lot of fun- though it makes for a really long day. This time we arrived around 11am and didn't leave until around 1am, which involved two rain delays and much rearranging of the schedule to make things work for the taping of the show.
Below is Rich Christensen surrounded by a bunch of drivers. This part of the day was done purely for the show taping, not for any purpose related to drag racing cars.
This is Hubs and I under the umbrella during the second rain delay. Fortunately it didn't rain as hard as during the first rain delay or this umbrella would have been more worthless than it was... the seams weren't exactly keeping out the water.

As you can see, he's like a child at events like these... at least that's what his terribly goofy smile indicates to me.

I'd like to think part of it is also because I'm giving him a little hug, but I'm not going to kid myself too much. Now even though I'm not obsessed like my goofy husband, I do have some favorites- such as this Camaro below. I love me an old Camaro, preferably a Z28 or SS made in 1969. The just released ones are nice too, but if I'm going to drop that kind of moolah, I'd rather have a vintage one.The weather cleared off to blue sky eventually, though it did sprinkle a bit after dark. Even with two rain delays, the boy and I had a great time together and I'm thankful we are able to go to events like this and enjoy a day outside, away from the TV.Blessings and Happy Tuesday!
