No Manic Monday Here

Today’s do-nothing factor was a little ridiculous. I got up, had breakfast, and then went back to bed for a fairly long nap. When I awoke, I ate lunch and then sat in the living room. My sister said several times as we sat there that we needed to do something and I agreed… and yet we didn’t move.

Runtley joined us in our lack of activity.

Finally late afternoon rolled around and we got up and out of the living room.  From the list of things we discussed to do, we chose a trip to the river, which is a short walk through the woods.

On the way, Karen spotted some blackberries and picked a few.  They were warmed by the sun and you could smell them when standing there.

Once at the river, sister hooked me up with a chair in the shallow part so I could enjoy the sunshine and also keep cool with my feet in the water.

While I read, she alternated between lying on the riverbank and wandering around in the river, skipping stones and checking out the swimming hole possibilities.

Mostly the sun shone from a clear blue sky, but occasionally a line of clouds would give us a reprieve from the hot rays.

It was wonderfully relaxing… except for the little fishes who gathered around my feet and kept tickling them unless I wiggled my toes periodically to make them disperse.

Please note that my feet look swollen and distorted because of the water, not because I’m eight months pregnant… okay, maybe a little because of that.

When an hour or so had passed, we headed back to the house to help Mom make dinner.  First Karen went back out to gather a bowl of the blackberries, which we left on the counter for nibbling.

We were thankful the hot sticky weather of the weekend had cleared off so we could enjoy a casual dinner out on the lawn.  We dined on delicious chicken fajitas with a creamy jalapeno sauce, which we ate while listening to Latin music.

It was the perfect start to our week at home.  The rest of the days might involve a little more activity, but if not, we certainly won’t complain.
