Baby’s due date is a month from today and it’s making me itchy. Not the scratchy kind, but the eager kind. I’m itching to make serious headway in the organized and prepared department. Unfortunately, a project was delaying my ability to start: painting the nursery.
I hadn’t even wanted to paint until about a month ago, but once I decided to, I thought it silly to organize too much and then have to move things around to paint. So I’ve been waiting, though thankfully not too long, with the time finally coming to do it this weekend when my sister was able to help and we knocked the major part of it out in an afternoon (with Casey’s help too!). Now there is just a little art bit for me to do. Once that’s done, I’ll share before and after photos.
In the meantime, I’ll share another transformation: the crib. The crib was the first thing Casey and I went to buy together and it’s been sitting naked in the room for months.
When I was home in Vermont a couple weeks ago, two of my Mom’s main sewing projects were finishing the crib skirt and bumper. Though it took her a few days to get to it, she whipped right through them and I am so happy with the results.
While I was home, I was also given a mobile as a gift at my shower (thanks Grama!). It has adorable turtles and the patterns match the fabric I chose for the rest of the ensemble really well – all stripes and dots.
It’s awesome to have such a major component of the nursery done. It’s the place our little guy will lay his head and also a place where color choice and pattern come into play the most. Although I have a lot more to put away and do, having this part done seriously brings things together.
