The State of Things

The little boy is 10 days old today.  I am grateful that Casey was able to work from home this week as I continue to recover from the birth day, unable to lift or do too much yet, but getting better every day.  We are doing our best to get on a schedule and the little guy has mostly cooperated.  He’s a pretty laid back baby, more evidence that he is Casey’s little man.

I have been inspired over the past ten days to write various posts, but as things develop in my mind, for today I’m going to share some photos of the state of things here in our home.

Our bedroom after the first night.  Baby items strewn around, along with slippers and robe, pillows propped up, and a sleepy daddy still in bed.

Our little family: two kitties, one mumma, and one little boy… plus papa on the other side of the camera.

Daddy carefully administers a shampooing at the kitchen sink.

Curious kitties say “hello.”  So far they are mostly unperturbed by his presence, though both stick pretty close by to keep an eye on things.

Father and son love to cuddle up, creating opportunities for photos that show how much they look alike.

Abel is fitting right into our little family, his needs simple and pretty typical for a baby: food, sleep, and a clean diaper.  Standard baby stuff, though unique that he is ours alone and we love him unlike any other.  I am excited to stay at home and care for him and can’t wait to feel back to normal (whatever my new normal feels like) so that we can develop the Pie and Apron Life I’ve dreamed of for so long.
