Abel’s First Christmas

We celebrated our first family Christmas with Abel last night.  We dressed him all up in his Santa jammies for the opening of his presents.

He was very patient with us as we propped him up in his seat to take photos.

And he sat sweetly with us as we opened his presents, which he looked at and found interest in as much as a three month old can.

Abel was very content while we opened gifts for him, probably because he was so sleepy.  By the time we were done unwrapping, he could barely stay awake for this sweet family photo before he fell asleep as Casey walked him to his crib.

It wasn’t the perfect evening (there was some pie crust drama earlier in the evening), but we were all there, healthy and happy.  The magic of Christmas is kind of lost on our little guy this year, but we loved taking his photo and creating excitement over his gifts on his behalf.  I can only imagine how much more fun we’ll have in future years when he’s able to understand more of it!

Tomorrow we’re off to Vermont for the week to celebrate with family and friends.  It’s going to be awesome to share Abel’s first Christmas with all the people we love so much!

Just A Few More Quick Days

We made our little family trip on Saturday and it was a longer day than expected, but we still enjoyed our time together, as well as some excellent views.

We’ll travel north this upcoming Saturday for Christmas and New Years.  I’m really looking forward to the trip and to time at home sharing my sweet little boy with our family and friends.

I know the next couple days will go by fast and I’m hoping to fill them up with preparing for the holiday and getting the condo clean and fresh for our return in the New Year.  It’s a wonderful time and I’m eager to make it as exciting and enjoyable as possible for Abel.

Hello Weekend

Busy weekend ahead.  And more business next week.  All in preparation for the most wonderful time of the year – namely spending a week in the lovely winter wonderland called Vermont.

There are snickerdoodles cooling on the counter, the baby is in bed at his new consistent bedtime, and tomorrow we’re going on a little family outing and then to a Christmas party at a friends.

Life is good.

Sleepy Little Guy

I love it when I look over at Abel sitting in his chair and he’s just looking at me.  Sometimes he gives me a huge grin when I notice.  Other times he just sleepily gazes…

And then falls asleep.  Guess I’m not that interesting to look at.

First Date

On Friday night, Casey and I got dressed up and went to his company Christmas party.  It was our first date, just the two of us, since Abel was born.

Each room was themed around a different location, with drinks and eats from around the world.  I think my favorite dish was a seared chicken breast with mole sauce.  Yum.

Then there was the awesome fire where we made s’mores and I got a delicious cup of hot chocolate topped with marshmallows for dessert.

The sweetest part, though, was spending quality time with Casey and then coming home to tip toe quietly together into Abel’s room for a few moments of the parental bliss of watching him sleep peacefully.
