Baking Extravaganza:
Sugar Cookies

This sugar cookie recipe is one that I have used for years. I used it as a teen baker and enjoy my little note I wrote back then on the page that says "YUMMMMYYY." I haven't made these for a few years, as last year I skipped out on sugar cookies, but last night I certainly made up for any sugar-cookie-dough eating I've been missing out on. I'm lucky I'm not sick because all I really ate last night was cookie dough and cookies from the cooling rack. I'm suprised I'm not sugar cookied out. But because I love me some sugar cookies (and some bad carbs), just looking at the photos for making the cookies makes me want more of them.

I'm going to need a serious New Year workout plan.

I only made the cookies last night and tonight I will be tackling the frosting and decorating.

Ingredients:
1 stick butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tblsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 3/4 cups flour
baking powder
salt

The amounts for baking powder and salt aren't listed yet because I'm doing this from memory and I forgot. I'll update later.
1. Cream together the butter and sugar.

2. Add the egg, vanilla, and milk and mix together.

3. Mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder.

4. Add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture and beat until mixed. (Please note that my texture initially was too creamy, so I just added more flour until it was right.)

5. Put the dough into the fridge for one hour or a bit more.

6. Once the dough has chilled, roll it out onto a floured surface.

7. Select your cookie cutters.

8. Cut out your favorite holiday shapes!

9. Place on cookie sheet.

10. Bake in oven for 8-10 minutes- or until they look like they're about to get too brown/crunchy.
11. Remove from oven and cool slightly on cookie sheet before removing to cool on a cookie rack.

You're done! Enjoy! Just don't enjoy them as much as I did... by eating them for dinner.

Oh, and if you're needing something to do with that last bit of dough that is always left, make a sweet cookie for your Hubby.

Frosting tomorrow! Happy Thursday! Just 7 days until Christmas!
