My Mom was tagged for this and she in turn tagged me. The rules include tagging people at the end of the post, but you wont find that here. I haven't quite developed taggable blog friends yet, but I'm going to participate anyways. If you would like to join, please feel free- let me know that you've joined in by leaving a comment, or not... that's up to you!
The rules of this tag are these:
1. Link to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share seven random and/or weird book facts about yourself.
3. Tag seven random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Seven Random things about Books (as relevant to me):
1. I love to read and I come by it naturally. My Grama and Mom both always have piles just waiting to be read. I do as well! In fact, I came home from Thanksgiving weekend with a pile- some from Grama and some from my Aunt Beth.
2. I can only read one "currently" reading book at once. I have others that I might peruse occasionally, but in terms of books I read from front to back, it's always one at a time. Of course, I've never tried more than one, but I don't think I'd enjoy it as much. My mind is jumbled enough as it is!
3. I will read pretty much any genre of book by any author. I've read books I didn't even really enjoy... of course, one was from a "top book" list, so maybe I felt the need to see it through just so I could know that I read it. Even if I find it kind of boring, it makes it a challenge- you have to push yourself to see where the writer is coming from and how it applies to you.
4. A few years ago my Grama and I read Anna Karenina together. It was the longest book I've ever read, but it was really good! We had lunch after we had finished to discuss and Grama gave me a pretty pair of amber earrings. In relation, I used to give my Grama earrings for Christmas each year, but now I give her a book (and have a copy for myself) to read in the upcoming year. Last year we read The Thirteenth Tale and this year we're going to read... nope, sorry, can't tell you yet! :)
5. I share a love of crime-fiction with several family members. The authors vary for each of us, but some that are the same (and also some of my favorites) are James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Ian Rankin, and Tami Hoag (gotta add a little romance into the mix!)
6. I used to keep a list of the books I read to see how many I read in a year. My dedication to that slowly dwindled, but in 2009 I hope to bring that back.
7. In 2009 I will also read as many books as I can from a "Top 100 Best Novels" list that I have selected. The list can be found here. I'll be posting more about that once 2009 rolls around, but at this point I think I'm going to start with 100 and work my way towards number 1.
