The long weekend in Vermont was absolutely wonderful. The time with family and friends truly refreshed my spirit. Like I said in a post earlier today, now that Thanksgiving is over, the holiday season is truly upon us and I'm ready to join in. But before I share my first bit of Christmas decor, here are some prizes I got during my visit to VT:
Chocolate peanut butter fudge from (Hubby's) Aunt Gloria. YUMMY.

Wedding gift card for
Anichini = new table linens...
A variety of napkins. (in life, the two on the left are actually more orange than peachy pink)

Some beautiful
placemats and more formal napkins (sorry the picture quality is so bad!).

I bought the brown tablecloth this weekend. The aqua one is one my Mom bought and we used for the wedding.

Salt and pepper shakers from Pier One. LOVE.

Probably my favorite prize of all! This is a vintage tablecloth from my Mom. It was used on the sweetheart table at my wedding and I LOVE it.

Because it is the first of December and Advent has begun, I pulled out my first piece of decor- the Advent calendar my Mom gave me a few years ago. It has little doors and when she first gave it to me each compartment had a little ornament in it. Right now just December 1 and December 24 have love notes from her in them.

But each compartment also has a little Bible verse you can look up. After the first December, the ornaments were taken out and hung, but not replaced, so instead I read the verse each day. Someday when I have kids I'll put treats in there, but we we also read the verse.

I'm looking forward to pulling out the rest of my decorations in the next few days- tomorrow I'll probably take out the creche and get that set up. After all, it is the piece of decor that represents the reason for the season.

I am lame. I just buy the chocolate filled advent calendars. They were 80 cents at Christmas Tree Shop. But, I did down load instructions for making a pocket calendar for DJ. We'll see if I can pull it off. He isn't fond of chocolate.
I love that your door has not only a verse, but an activity as well. I am going to have to think about this a bit more.
When I sent Karen home with her Advent calendar, I couldn't find the same little verses that I put on yours--I'm going to keep looking.
I had a wonderful time with you this weekend. It makes my heart glad to see that tablecloth at your house. Enjoy it!
i LOVE the salt and pepper shakers and the calendar! too cute!
