A Cure for the Uncommon Hangover

Typically, or commonly, people associate a hangover as the symptoms a person feels the day after a night of heavy drinking. The more uncommon type of hangover is the kind I get, which doesn’t really come from drinking because I drink very little, but rather comes from a long night of celebrating and/or enjoying time with friends.

I had such a night on Saturday when I was in Vermont, when a group of buddies and I celebrated my bestie’s birthday. We were out dancing and having a good time until early morning, and then I drove back to my parent’s house to go to bed.

Now, my parent’s house is about an hour from where my friends live… and I didn’t get back until about 4am. I had plans with Mum in the morning and I awoke just before 10am. I wandered downstairs, a bit of a headache forming in my head, to find she already had our tea time set up.

Out on the back deck, the patio set was adorned with pretty tablecloths and dinnerware, and there were even shawls on the chairs to warms us in the cool breeze of the morning.

We settled into our seats, poured tea, and commenced to enjoying it along with scones with strawberry jam she had made that very morning. It was delicious!

Even better than delicious, it rid me of any hangover symptoms I had or that might have developed.

So, if you find yourself feeling a bit under the weather after a night of celebrating, I recommend finding a cozy spot to sit, drink a warm cup of tea, eat some scones with homemade jam, and enjoy some conversation with your Mum. It worked like a charm for me.
