Um, where’d that weekend go?

Oh man, the weekend in Vermont went by waaaaay too fast! Well, except the drive home yesterday, which took way longer than we would have liked.

Aw well, it was still a grand weekend. We drove up on Thursday and got there in time for me to be dropped off and get back in the car with my Mum to go visit my Godfather (Grama's husband), who was still in the hospital after surgery. After our visit, we went to dinner with Grama at Chilis and it was delish. The Hubs had gone a bit further north for a boys’ night with his buddies.

On Friday, I slept in a little before getting up and lounging around the house, reading and enjoying some quiet time on the front porch steps. At lunch time, my Mom came home and let me borrow her car, after dropping her back at work, so I could go visit my Meme and Grampa. Meme and I ended up going for a drive to get some flowers and some supplies for brunch on Saturday. On Friday night, Hubs came to my parent’s house and we all had dinner – pork chops, mashed taters, salads, and homemade applesauce.

On Saturday morning, I got up and made brunch. My friend invited me to brunch and I invited her to our house instead of going out. She got there as I was making scones and we proceeded to visit while I put those in the oven and made cucumber sandwiches. Once all was ready, we sat down to the table with my Mum and my Nana, who is visiting my parents for the week, to a spread of homemade strawberry jam, scones, cucumber sandwiches, and stump pullers.

Yes, brunch was at 10am. Yes, the stump pullers have gin in them. No, there is not enough gin to make it crazy to drink them at 10am. In fact, I use more lemonade and syrup and less gin than the recipe calls for, so they were really just sweetened pink lemonades with very little kick.

Also, maple syrup and pink lemonade mixed together may sound strange, but trust me when I tell you they are super yummy!

On Saturday afternoon, we didn’t do much. It was the kind of rainy afternoon where you just want to nap, so we lounged around the living room watching a movie and dozing off every now and then.

Late Saturday afternoon, Casey and his parents came to pick me up and we went for a ride and to run some errands before meeting my parents and Nana at a Chinese buffet for dinner. After that, we went to Casey’s parent’s house to play cards, which was lots of fun!

On Sunday, we got up and headed back to VA. It took like 13.5 hours. The end.
