Brrrrrrr!

The leaves are mostly gone from the trees and it's been quite cold, at least for NoVA, the past few days. I don't think it's gotten over forty and today the wind was frigid. Most people complain about the cold, but I've found it to be a great excuse (not that I really need one!) for fuzzy socks, hot chocolate, and cuddling up in PJs and a blanket after the chores of the afternoon are completed. Today I cleaned up the kitchen, made Nana's mac and cheese, and relaxed under Orange Hugs, a quilt made by my Grama.

Like I said yesterday, I've kind of been avoiding Christmas stuff because I think it's still a bit early... okay, it's not really early anymore, but it makes me real homesick so maybe that's why I've been avoiding it. Anyways, today one my Mom's blog friends hosted a blog Christmas Fair and I enjoyed checking out the creative wares of the participants... especially my Mom's! I'm starting to feel the spirit and after I've had a refreshing trip to Vermont for Thanksgiving, including some quality time with my family and friends, I'll be coming back to VA to start unpacking my Christmas decorations and preparing for the gift giving and celebration of another year gone by.

However, before I go to Vermont for the long Thanksgiving weekend, I've got to get my Christmas cards prepared- we are going to have a card-signing/envelope preparation "party" while I'm home and I'm so happy about it! I've missed it the past few years because I haven't been able to make the trip home and I love the opportunity to hang out and chit chat with some of the fabulous ladies of my family. It's an opportunity that makes me even more excited about the trip home!

So here's to a weekend that's relaxing but goes by fast, and two and half days of work (that hopefully also go by fast... right before a trip home is the only time I hope for time to go by fast!) before the long drive home to my parents' amazing home and quality time with the best people on earth!
