Anyways, it's not Ducky I smelled today, but the beautiful smell of fall. It has been too rainy and cold to smell it before today, or I hadn't noticed yet, but it warmed up a bit this afternoon and I sniffed it in deep when I left the building from work. I'm not sure if anyone knows the smell I mean, but it's the one that combines crisp air with fallen leaves. It makes me homesick... more homesick than usual, if that's possible.
Today was a good day though because I had my follow up at the oral surgeon's office. I was in and out in like five minutes. Apparently I'm doing just fine and what looks like a hole in my cheek is actually on purpose to prevent infection. Who knew? Not me, but now that I do, I am glad. Glad that tonight I actually had a "mostly real" meal of hot dogs and mashed potatoes. I think "regular" food shall start to trickle back into my diet and I am thankful... although I bought some Cool Whip to eat on chocolate pudding. Instead of being one of the only things I can it, it will be a treat for making it through recovery without (too much) whining!
Other than watching the final (DVRed) episode of Top Design, I'm keeping it a quiet evening. Hubby will want to watch The Office when he gets home from class probably, but after posting I'm going to curl up in bed with a book. And I must say I'm much happier with the outcome of Top Design than I was with Project Runway. I was surprised though, I thought Pretty Preston would be taking it home. In all reality though, Top Design and Project Runway are just to keep me Bravo-occupied in between seasons of Top Chef. It starts next week and I'm so excited!
For someone who doesn't like TV, I certainly have quite a few shows I watch. That is why I am thankful for DVR. Weekly I DVR: House, Biggest Loser, Top Design and Project Runway (next week just Top Chef), The Office, and Dexter (although I normally end up watching Dexter the night of because it has no commercials to begin with). So that's a total of 6.5 hours of TV. But with DVR, it's minus the commercials, so that's probably only like 5-5.5 hours of TV, right? Aw well, that's less than an hour a day of regularly watched shows. And I really watch little in addition to that. And it's fall. When re-runs start, I'm less likely to watch so much. (Uh oh, justifications are back!)
Wow, I need a life of my own.
Okay, I do sort of have a life. I went out with friends last night for my first dinner at a sushi place. Unfortunately, I didn't really think my recovering mouth and teeth could handle sushi yet... well, at least not the seaweed wrapped kind. So I declined. I will try it some day... even though the thought of raw fish makes me do a stinky face. But it was a great time with friends and afterwards I'm always wishing we hung out more. I guess I should suggest that.
"Hung out more" sounds entirely inappropriate.
Woo, I need to get some photos taken because these long winded, text-only posts must be wicked boring. I'm hoping Hubs and I can take a ride this weekend to take some foliage photos. In the meantime, well for tonight, I'll quit my keyboard jabbing.
