Since my first post I've definitely changed, mainly in good ways I think. I've grown a lot and I'm sure it's even shown throughout the course of my posts. I hope I can continue to be more dedicated to sharing my thoughts, life, and inspirations in hopes that I can also inspire someone else... or at least make them laugh!
A year and a half ago, I was an apartment-girlfriend and now I'm a condo-wife. My cleaning regimens have changed and I am much better at keeping things consistently tidy. Part of that, as you know, is through zones. This week I'm in the guest bedroom and bathroom (zone 3). I cleaned the bathroom last night, dusted and vacuumed in the bedroom, and did a fifteen-minute (give or take) file sort. Our filing system is something I'm really trying to get a handle on and I'm hoping to get a lot of it organized this week. The picture below shows the state of the guest bedroom last night. It's come a long way since September.
Something else I've become better at, even if it's just been in the last week or so, is making dinner and eating it at the table with Hubby. This has been a goal of mine for a long time and I'm so glad to be accomplishing it.
Last night I tried a new recipe. My execution was horrible, but it tasted REALLY good. I'm hoping with practice, because I'm definitely making it again, the execution will get better. The recipe is called Pollo Relleno. It's boneless chicken rolled up with cheese and green chilis inside with a cornmeal/taco seasoning mixture baked on the outside, topped with salsa.
My poor execution came in "filleting" the chicken breast in half and pounding it down to a thinner piece, which made it hard to fill and roll. I didn't take step-photos, but I will next time I make it. A couple of pieces of chicken just ended up with the seasoned outside, which tasted good too.
Recently I've desired to put more effort towards my outward appearance. With this desire I've made a list of some items I'd like to add to my closet to "grow it up" a bit. It's hard for me to purchase new things for myself, so it will take time to acquire everything. However, with some encouragement I got a few new items this week. Those items included new boots, which I am really excited about! I also got tights and a skirt. The skirt is pretty nice for me- it's lined and everything. That's because of Tim Gunn. I watched an episode of his show the other day and they talked about quality, including that clothing that is lined is ty
pically better quality than unlined. And since I want to "grow up" my closet, including move away from juniors, I thought starting with a better quality item was a good idea. You can see a bit of the skirt and tights in the photo. I couldn't get a good pic of my whole ensemble yesterday... I think it's because I didn't like the top. It looked frumpy... probably because I tug at the bottom of my shirts compulsively and this one has gotten stretched out.
Lastly, I finally got into the gym today. I just did a half hour on the elliptical, but it felt really good. I'll be back in there tomorrow and will start back up on weights. I think I'm going to alternate circuit training on MWF and cardio on TR. I am blessed to be able to work out while I'm "on-duty." It's awesome to get it out of the way before I go home.
From 100 and on, here's to being buff, healthy eats, meals at the table, a welcoming and tidy home, and so much more!
