Disgusting.

I know I've already posted once today. And within the last hour. But I was just browsing the web and this advertisement was on one of the pages I visited. This angers me. Seriously ticks me off. There are so many issues out there that ladies of all ages have to deal with and then there's this crap shoved in our faces. I hope that young girls aren't looking at this and thinking that society expects them to look like this when they turn 24. It is unreasonable and totally unattractive.

I can't even imagine wanting to look like this. It is DIS-GUS-TING. I could go on and on about how these types of images and this type of focus are part of what has destroyed America's image and the health of many of our teenage citizens, but I'm not going to. Instead I'm going to share with you with a great video by Dove that shows what goes into the women most people see as the image of beauty in our country and around the world (aka models):

Come on people, let's get real and see people for what they really are, not what they are made to be through alteration. As the saying goes, the truth would hurt less if we heard it more. And we would hurt less if we were being more true to who we are. Be healthy and care for the body the Lord gave you, don't destroy it through crazy diets or overindulgence.

Sorry for the quick trip to the soap box, but sometimes a girl just needs to vent!

Hey, just so you know, your soap box made your cousin be a little more aware. I believe her comment was "Wow, they can do that with computers?"
Thanks, Chris, it means a lot to this mom of a little girl who is influenced by those outside sources often. I can only hope to show her how to be more healthy. But know this: I am thankful she has other role models, like you, to look up to. :)

Good for you! I enjoyed this 'vent' thoroughly! It gets so exhausting being bombarded by images of starving people.
