Where have all the leaves gone?

Go me! I have not watched any television today. That is a fabulous thing and I am proud of it... especially because all I wanted to do on my way home from work was get to the condo and curl up to pass out in front some bad reality show. But I didn't. Instead I did some cleaning in this week's zone, the kitchen, and made pumpkin bread. Hubby will be so happy when he gets home and the wonderful pumpkin smell is not just a candle! The cleaning showed some great results and included "Kelly's Mission" from FlyLady (dusting the tops of stuff, including cabinets and fridge), doing a thorough wipe down of the counters and the microwave and the stove, and sweeping and Swiffer-wetting the floor. It's looking great and it's always so much nicer to work and live in a space that is clean and shiny!

It's Monday so it's an "alone" night, meaning Hubby is at class until ten. I had a staple "alone" night meal of quesadilla with green peppers and onions and a serving of chicken sausage gumbo (made by Progresso, not me). I probably eat this too much, but for me, it's yummy and satisfying on a cold night alone with my kitties.

I took the below photo on Friday and thought things were looking lovely and Autumnal. It was foggy that morning and it was a misty, calm view off the balcony. The leaves were looking quite vibrant. Unfortunately, a lot of the leaves on the trees to the left fell this weekend. Autumn barely had a chance to speak here this year with it being crazy warm for so long, as if summer wasn't going to end, and now it's turning very chilly and the trees are getting bare. It definitely makes me incredibly homesick for Vermont and wood fires and the warm company of friends and family. I seriously can't wait for Thanksgiving weekend!

So I'm sitting here typing and I here a rustling sound over on the other side of the bed. I investigate and find that Gracie is fighting to have herself a little treat. I'm not sure how she got this bag of treats out of the entry closet, but she (or her accomplice sister) has managed to get it from the closet, rip a hole in it (you can see the tear towards the bottom of the bag), and she was desperately trying to get a treat out of the bag.

I promise I am not starving them. Their bowls are actually full of food. But I am a strong, independent woman and apparently Gracie wants to be like her human-mommy and knows that sometimes a kitty just needs to fend for herself.

Hahahaha, I crack myself up. Blessings for this Monday and for the rest of the week!
